Is X Premium Worth It in 2026? Twitter Blue Review + ROI Framework

Is X Premium Worth It in 2026? Twitter Blue Review + ROI Framework

X Premium is worth it if you post on X several times a week and want one of the things only a subscription gives: a slight preference for your replies, posts up to 25,000 characters, a one-hour edit window, or eligibility for X’s creator payouts. It is not worth it for occasional posting or for the checkmark alone. In the US, X lists Basic at $3 a month, Premium at $8 and Premium+ at $40.

Key takeaways

  • X Premium has three tiers. X’s help page lists Basic, Premium and Premium+, “with more features available in each higher tier.”
  • US web prices on X’s page (archived 10 October 2026): Basic $3 a month or $32 a year, Premium $8 or $84, Premium+ $40 or $395, plus tax. Other countries have their own prices.
  • Every tier gets the edit button, posts up to 25,000 characters, longer video uploads and some reply prioritisation. Premium adds the blue checkmark, about 50% fewer ads and access to Original Content Rewards.
  • X describes the reach benefit as reply prioritisation, larger on each tier. It does not promise more reach for your posts in general.
  • Decide with a four-week test: record your numbers for two weeks, subscribe for two, and compare replies, profile visits and the clicks that matter to you.

The table lists what X’s own help page says each tier includes, with the US web prices from the same page. X notes that features vary by platform and location and change over time, so check x.com before you subscribe. Prices exclude tax and payment fees.

What does X Premium include?

Every tier gets editing, longer posts and longer videos. X’s help page says the edit button gives “a 1 hour window to make a limited number of changes to published posts”, longer posts allow “up to 25,000 characters”, and videos can run to about three hours and 8GB at 1080p on x.com and iOS. Higher tiers add the checkmark, fewer ads, payouts and AI features.

By tier, in X’s own terms:

  • Basic: editing posts, longer posts and longer video uploads, reply prioritisation, text formatting, bookmark folders and custom app icons.
  • Premium: everything in Basic plus a checkmark, reduced ads, access to apply for Original Content Rewards and Creator Subscriptions, larger reply prioritisation, ID verification, Media Studio, and higher usage limits on Grok.
  • Premium+: everything in Premium plus SuperGrok, no ads in most places on X, the largest reply prioritisation, Radar Search and X Pro. (X’s page lists Articles under Premium+ in its summary and under Premium in its feature list.)

X adds that everyone can read a long post, “but only Premium subscribers can create them”, using Premium for subscribers on any tier, Basic included. X’s own pages do not agree on the longest video a subscriber can post; our guide to X video length compares them. One caveat on names: X’s page on post types, in an archived copy of 13 October 2026, says longer posts come with “X Premium and the Plus, Premium, Super, and Ultra plans on The X Subscription”, so X may be renaming its tiers. The blue checkmark only appears after X reviews the account (the PostNext guide to what verified means covers checkmarks across platforms), and changing your profile photo, display name or handle removes it until the account is reviewed again.

How much is X Premium?

In the US, X’s help page lists Basic at $3 a month or $32 a year, Premium at $8 a month or $84 a year, and Premium+ at $40 a month or $395 a year, on the web, plus tax and payment fees. The UK has the same figures in pounds for Basic and Premium, and Premium+ at £31. In most eurozone countries Premium+ is €38.

The page calls this “localized pricing starting at $3/month or $32/year” and lists prices country by country, so look up your own country on X before you budget. The figures on the page are web prices. Paying yearly costs less: on the US figures, Premium yearly works out to $7 a month instead of $8.

Does X Premium boost your reach?

X describes the reach benefit narrowly: reply prioritisation. Its help page lists “reply prioritization” for Basic, “larger reply prioritization” for Premium and the “largest reply prioritization” for Premium+, which means your replies get preference in conversations. X’s FAQ calls it “a slight preference for replies from verified accounts over other replies” and says it is “currently testing the levels” at which it prioritises Premium subscribers. The page does not promise that your own posts reach more people in the For you feed.

That makes replies the place to measure. If you build your audience by replying in busy conversations, prioritisation is the feature you are paying for, and the four-week test below shows whether it moves anything. X’s open-source For You code ranks posts on predicted engagement for each viewer; our guide to how the X algorithm works explains what that ranking looks at.

Premium also opens Original Content Rewards. X says payouts “are calculated based on qualified impressions from Premium users” with your content, for creators who meet the eligibility rules. That is a reason to subscribe only if your posts already earn steady impressions.

Is X Premium worth it?

It is worth it when you use X often enough for a paid feature to change your results. Creators who reply a lot get the most from reply prioritisation, though X calls the effect slight. People who write long posts or edit often benefit from the writing tools. Accounts with steady impressions can apply for Original Content Rewards. If you post a few times a month, the free version does what you need.

How do you test whether X Premium is worth it?

Run it as a four-week experiment. For two weeks before you subscribe, write down impressions on the replies you write, plus profile visits, link clicks and follows per post. Subscribe and keep posting the same way for two more weeks. Compare per-post numbers. If reply impressions and profile visits rose and those lead to something you value, keep it. If not, cancel.

Step by step:

  1. Pick the goal. Replies, profile visits, link clicks to your site, or follows. One or two numbers, not ten.
  2. Record a baseline. Two weeks, same posting rhythm, same kinds of posts.
  3. Subscribe and change nothing else. Same topics, same times, same number of posts, so the subscription is the only difference.
  4. Compare per post. Divide by the number of posts in each period, so a busy week does not skew the result.
  5. Put a value on it. If replies and visits rose and some turned into leads or sign-ups, the subscription price is a cost per lead you can compare with other channels.

A steady posting rhythm is what makes the comparison fair, which is where a scheduler helps.

Can you schedule long posts and threads for X Premium accounts?

Yes, with PostNext. When an X account connects, PostNext stores its subscription type, and it allows posts up to 25,000 characters for subscribed accounts while holding standard accounts to 280. It schedules single posts and whole threads, and connects through X’s official API v2, so it never sees your password.

The X scheduler keeps the posting rhythm the four-week test needs, and its analytics show impressions, likes, replies and engagement rate for each post, the per-post numbers the comparison runs on. On paid plans it also suggests three posting slots from how your own X posts did over the last 90 days. For how often to post during the test, see our X posting frequency guide, and for spreading a long idea across posts instead, our guide to scheduling X threads.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is X Premium worth it?

It is worth it if you post on X several times a week and want reply prioritisation, longer posts, the edit button or Original Content Rewards. It is not worth it for occasional posting or the checkmark alone. Test it for four weeks against the impressions on your replies and your profile visits before deciding.

How much does X Premium cost per month?

In the US, X’s help page lists Basic at $3 a month, Premium at $8 and Premium+ at $40, on the web, plus tax. Yearly plans cost $32, $84 and $395. Prices differ by country.

What is the difference between X Premium and Premium+?

Premium includes the blue checkmark, about 50% fewer ads, larger reply prioritisation and access to Original Content Rewards. Premium+ adds the largest reply prioritisation, an ad-free experience in most areas of X, SuperGrok, Radar Search and X Pro.

Does X Premium increase reach?

X describes the benefit as reply prioritisation, “a slight preference for replies from verified accounts”, a preference that grows with each tier and that X says it is still testing. X’s help page does not promise more reach for your own posts in general. Measure impressions on your replies and profile visits before and after subscribing to see what it does for you.

How long can posts be with X Premium?

Up to 25,000 characters, on every tier including Basic, according to X’s help page. Everyone can read long posts, but only subscribers can write them. Without a subscription, X posts are limited to 280 characters.

Can you get paid on X with Premium?

Premium and Premium+ subscribers can apply for Original Content Rewards and Creator Subscriptions if they meet X’s eligibility rules. X says reward payouts are calculated from qualified impressions from Premium users on your content. Basic does not include either program.
