In some countries Instagram offers WhatsApp directly: tap Edit profile, then Add links, and enter your WhatsApp number. Can the chat open with a message already typed?

Does Instagram have its own WhatsApp option for profiles?

Do I need WhatsApp Business?

No. A wa.me link works for any number with an active WhatsApp account. The WhatsApp Business app adds a ready-made short link under Tools, and you can set a default message for people who open it.

Will people see my phone number?

A wa.me link contains your number, so anyone who reads the link can see it, and anyone who chats with you sees it in WhatsApp. If you would rather keep your personal number private, use a separate number for chats from Instagram.

Can I add the link from a computer?

No. Instagram's help centre says profile links are added in the Instagram app for iPhone or Android, not on a computer.

Why does my WhatsApp link not work?

Usually the number format. Check that it starts with the country code and has no plus sign, spaces, brackets or dashes, and that the number has an active WhatsApp account. Open the link yourself to test it.

How many links can I have in my Instagram bio?

Up to five. A WhatsApp link takes one of them, so once you need more, a link in bio page can hold the rest behind a single link.

Can I add WhatsApp to a link in bio page?
