Bring your own agent

Let your AI agent draft and schedule your social posts

One connection gives your assistant your channels, brand profile and queue. It writes the drafts, and every post stays editable in PostNext until it goes out.

Bring your own agent

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor in a minute

PostNext runs an MCP server at mcp.postnext.io. Add it to your AI client, sign in with PostNext once, and the agent can see your connected channels, brand profile, drafts and scheduled posts. Sign-in uses OAuth, so the agent never sees your social media passwords.

Works with any client that speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP

From a prompt to your queue

Ask in plain language, get drafts in your queue

Ask your agent to plan the week, turn an article into posts for each network, or check what is already scheduled. It reads your brand profile, writes drafts that land in PostNext, and on a paid plan schedules them for the times you choose.

Prefer to stay in the app? Use the AI Assistant

The AI Assistant inside PostNext takes one request at a time: write a post, suggest hashtags, summarise a link or create an image. Results open in the composer, where you edit them and schedule. It uses the same AI credits as the rest of the app.

AI social media agents: common questions

What an agent can do in PostNext, which clients work and what it costs.

What is an AI social media agent in PostNext?

An AI assistant you already use, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor, connected to your PostNext account through the MCP server. It can read your channels, brand profile and queue, write drafts and, on a paid plan, schedule them.

How is this different from the AI Content Creator?

The AI Content Creator writes inside the PostNext composer. An agent works from your AI client: it can look at what is already scheduled, plan several posts in one conversation and put them in your queue without you opening PostNext.

Which AI clients can I connect?

Any client that speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP. PostNext has setup pages for Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor, and Claude connects in one click from the MCP page.

Which social networks can the agent post to?

X, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and Threads, once they are connected in PostNext. The agent drafts and schedules for those channels and can give you a link to connect one. YouTube and Bluesky are not available through the agent yet.

Can the agent publish without me checking?

On the free plan it can only create drafts. On Premium, Business and Teams it can also schedule a draft for a time you choose. Most AI clients ask you to confirm each action, and every post stays visible and editable in PostNext until it goes out.

Do I need to write code or use Zapier?

No. You add one server URL to your AI client and sign in with PostNext. No scripts and no separate automation tool.

How much does it cost?

MCP access is included with every PostNext plan. The free plan covers reading your account and creating drafts; scheduling through the agent needs Premium, Business or Teams. Every paid plan starts with a 7-day trial.

Does the agent use my AI credits?

Each draft the agent creates uses 1 AI credit, the same as drafting in the app. The free plan includes 10 credits a month, Premium 150, Business 500 and Teams 50 per user. Reading your queue, channels and plan uses none.

Can the agent tell me how my posts performed?

Yes. It can read channel analytics and the metrics of single posts and summarise them for you. On a paid plan it can also suggest your best times to post from your own history.

Does the agent write in my brand voice?

It can read your active brand profile, with its voice, themes and audience, before it drafts. On a paid plan it can also update the profile when you ask it to.

Can an agent run on a schedule or be triggered by a webhook?

PostNext has no webhook or cron trigger for agents. The agent acts when your AI client runs it; if your client supports scheduled tasks, those tasks can use the same PostNext tools.

Is there a REST API as well?

Yes. The public REST API covers accounts, connections, posts, assets and analytics with an API key, for scripts and automation tools. The MCP server is the route for AI assistants.

Is my account safe with an AI agent connected?

Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. Access is scoped to your team, tokens expire after 30 days without use, and the AI client never sees your social media passwords. You can remove a client from your PostNext account at any time.

Can one agent work across several teams?

Yes. The agent works in one team at a time and can list your teams and switch between them. Each team keeps its own channels, brand profile and queue.

Can the agent handle images and video?

Yes. It can upload images and video to your asset library and attach them to drafts. Larger files go through a secure upload link the agent requests from PostNext. Uploads count against your plan's storage.

Can I use the AI inside PostNext instead?

Yes. The AI Assistant and the AI Content Creator in the app write posts, hashtags and images from one request and send them to the composer for editing and scheduling. They use the same AI credits.
